About the Author
Pittsburgh PA's finest Dina Smiley is nothing short of an amazing success story. To be knocked down and kicked to the ground by this thing called life and yet still rise to the occasion with a smile despite the odds is a success story in itself. Staying positive and motivated I put myself in a position to win and am currently unstoppable.
I wasn't always as magnetic and impressionable as the aura I give off to those who cross my path. In 2007 I was lost and alone with what seemed like a black cloud that followed me everywhere I went. I was forced to move away with my 2-year-old daughter at the time after facing extensive trials and tribulations to ensure our safety while everyone else was left behind. Adapting to a new city and environment while facing my own demons and trying to keep a clear mind for the sake of my child was an everyday struggle. With the world on my shoulders instead of finding a vice in alcohol drugs or sex, I found an escape in a pen & paper. Writing became life! I started off with fantasy poetry, as a Pisces my imagination took me to several different places and by the end of 2007 I had written my first book "Jealous One Envy".
By 2010 I had pages and pages full of poetry and 2 completed books. Although being a mother became my main priority I found myself getting back to life. I began participating in amateur open mic nights and poetry slams receiving a lot of great feedback. Loving the reviews I got I decided it was time to do something about it.
As of June 2019, I completed my now 5th book and knew it was time for the world to take a glimpse. BITTER was my first published novel that is currently climbing the charts in and out of Pittsburgh. The sequel "Not Bitter Enough" was released shortly after in November 2019. Transitioning me into a Best Seller.
Future plans are to Launch my own publishing company to help others who may have been in a situation similar to mine or just simply in need of guidance. I want to help aspiring writers who don't know where to start or would prefer a supportive publishing house to represent them.
I am confident and excited about future endeavors and can't thank the lord above enough for helping keep my faith. Without God and an amazing support system, I would still be the girl hiding words in a notebook with no real use other than covering a page.
For those who are just getting a taste of the amazing talent that is Dina Smiley. Keep your eyes open because I plan to drop nothing but greatness with a story that will most certainly keep you wanting more. Stay tuned!
Everyone dreams of the perfect family. That's what Kane thought he had with London and his new daughter, Shaniya. Although confused by London's sporadic mood swings months after having the baby, Kane's initial mindset is to be there and support his family by any means necessary. As months passed, he realized that she was dealing with a more serious case of postpartum, and he just wanted to help her as much as he could, but she didn't want to hear it.. Instead, she became a completely different person, putting not only herself but their daughter in danger.
Kane’s now ex, London, is determined to make his life hell for reasons utterly unknown to Kane. Fueled by bitterness and anger, she seeks revenge, using their daughter as a weapon in a dangerous game of custody battles and physical and emotional warfare. As the stakes rise, Kane finds himself torn between his sanity and his love and desire to protect Shaniya.
Trying to do things the right way and failing, frustration and resentment mount when the court system fails to take his side after he witnesses cigarette burns all over her body, pushing Kane to the edge to protect his daughter, whether it meant his life or someone else's.
